Make the Changes You Have Struggled With

Habits are leading elements and powerful tools that forge our lives with time.

Some habits like smoking, drinking, gambling or even gaming and emotional shopping can have a huge impact on our lives as well as our loved ones.

Changing your habits will change your life.

I was 19 years old when I started smoking and for 20 years after, there hasn’t been one single day I didn’t smoke between 1 to 2 packs daily.

Having a medical background, I knew very well the health hazards of smoking, so knowledge was not the key to quit.

I heard lots of comments from my patients like how come you are a doctor and you smoke, and yet it didn’t lead me to quit.

The idea to quit was always on my mind but “Maybe Later” was my constant answer and remedy.

When I got married and had my 2 beautiful kids, all that I did was to smoke outside the house or open my car window, but yet, never quit.

If it was not my health, my family, my social responsibility and image in the society as someone who promotes health, that made me quit, then what did? And what made it successful from the first attempt?

One day I was in a taxi and I lit a cigarette, it was legal at this time to smoke in a taxi, 2009.

The taxi driver was an old guy who looked very wise. He asked me, do you have kids? I told him yes, he told me: “ If you love your kids, stop smoking”
The words rang very high in my ears. “Maybe later” was my bandaid.

A year later, I started to hear about my best friends and colleagues suffering from serious illnesses. That was the SPARK that lit the fire in my mind, I simply told myself:

“You will definitely stop smoking one day so you have only one of 2 choices, either to stop it when you die or get severely ill or to stop it now and enjoy a healthier life? And there is no third choice.”

The rationale was clear and the answer was clear. I had no doubt in my mind that I will succeed.

I followed the proper system scientifically that took me almost a year but afterward I was completely and irreversibly smoke-free, even today, without a shred of suffering or craving or even thinking about smoking.

I then coached many of my friends, colleagues, and patients who successfully stopped smoking and were extremely happy since then with their complete life transformation.
